About builds.center

builds.center is a place to document what you built, and how — by cataloguing the parts and publishing a page about them.

The idea

Most builds are explained in a place that loses them. A forum post that scrolls away, a photo album with no part list, a video where the specifications flash past in a corner for two seconds. Six months later someone asks which power supply you used and you cannot remember either.

A build here is a structured thing. Parts are catalogued individually, with the price you paid, the links to where you bought them, and your notes on why that one. Change something and the page keeps a revision history, so the build reflects what it is now while still showing what it was. The result is a page that is useful to the person reading it and to you, later.

Who it is for

Anyone who assembles things from parts. It started with PCs, which are the obvious case, but the format turns out to fit a lot of things — a car, a home studio, a desk, a keyboard, a display shelf, a room.

Some people publish a build once because they are proud of it. Some maintain a page that people keep coming back to. Both are the point.

How it is paid for

There are no adverts, and there is no tracking to sell. The service is funded by people who choose to pay for the optional Pro plan.

If you include affiliate links to the parts you used, we do not touch them. We do not rewrite, replace or wrap a creator's links, and we take no share of what they earn. That is a deliberate decision about what this site is: your links are yours, and the ones that pay for this site are our own. It is written into our Terms so it is not merely a promise on a marketing page.

How we treat your data

There is no third-party analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no tag manager. We serve our own fonts rather than loading them from a CDN that would see every visitor. We set one cookie of our own, and it exists to run the free viewing limit.

Our Privacy Policy lists what we store, and the Cookie Policy lists every cookie there is. Both are meant to be read.

Where it is up to

builds.center is in a closed alpha. Accounts are limited while we find the parts that do not work yet. Things will change, and occasionally break. If you are here early: thank you, and please tell us what is wrong with it.

Who runs it

builds.center is built and operated by Bagas Naufal Insani, working from Tangerang, Indonesia. It is a small, independent project rather than a company with a support department, which mostly means that when you email support@builds.center you are emailing the person who wrote the thing you are asking about.
