Community Guidelines

Last updated 3 August 2026

builds.center is for showing what you built and how — the parts, the choices, the mistakes. These guidelines form part of our Terms of Service and apply to everything you post: builds, posts, comments, images, usernames and profile text.

What belongs here

  • Builds you made or worked on, described honestly.
  • Real part lists, including the boring parts. A build page is more useful when the £12 cable is listed alongside the graphics card.
  • What went wrong. Revisions, dead ends and things you would do differently are the most useful thing on this site.
  • Helpful comments on other people's builds.

What does not

Content that is not yours

Do not post photos, text or part lists taken from someone else and presented as your own. If you include someone else's image with permission, credit them. Copyright complaints are handled under our Copyright Policy.

Illegal material

Anything unlawful under Indonesian law or under the law where you are. This includes material that facilitates serious harm, and instructions for making weapons or devices intended to injure people.

Harassment and hate

No targeted abuse, threats, stalking, or encouraging others to pile on. No attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation. Criticising a build is fine. Criticising the person who made it is not.

Other people's private information

Do not post someone's address, phone number, identity documents, private messages or workplace without their consent. Take care with your own, too: photographs of a build often include a window, a doorway, a delivery label or a screen.

Sexual content and content involving minors

This is not a platform for pornography or sexually explicit material. Any sexual content involving a minor will be removed, the account permanently banned, and the matter reported to the relevant authorities without prior notice.

Spam and manipulation

  • No bulk or repetitive posting, and no builds created only to carry links.
  • No vote, view or follow manipulation, including multiple accounts used to inflate your own numbers.
  • No unsolicited advertising in comments.
  • No keyword stuffing or content written for search engines rather than people.

Impersonation and deception

Do not pose as another person, brand or retailer, and do not imply an endorsement or a partnership that does not exist. Parody and fan accounts are fine when they are obvious.

Malware, phishing and abuse of the service

  • No links to malware, phishing pages or deceptive downloads.
  • No scraping, crawling or bulk collection of content or user data outside anything we publish for that purpose.
  • No probing or overloading the service, and no working around rate limits, view limits, plan limits or a ban.

Purchase and affiliate links

Affiliate links are welcome here. We do not modify them and we take no share of what they earn — see the Terms. In return, a few rules keep them trustworthy:

  • A link must go where it says it goes. Link to the actual product page for the part you used. No redirect chains that land somewhere else, and no cloaking the destination.
  • Disclose the relationship where the law or your affiliate programme requires it. Many programmes require it on the page carrying the link.
  • Do not misrepresent price or availability, and do not list a part you did not use in order to carry its link.
  • Follow the rules of whichever affiliate programme you are in. Those are between you and them.

Reporting

Every build, post and comment has a report option. Reports go to the moderation queue and are reviewed by a human. You can also block an account, which hides their content from you and prevents them interacting with yours.

For anything urgent — a credible threat, or content involving a minor — email support@builds.center and say so in the subject line.

What happens when a rule is broken

We try to match the response to what happened:

  • A note — for something minor or clearly accidental.
  • Content hidden or removed — for a specific post or build.
  • Suspension — the account can read but not post.
  • Permanent ban — for severe breaches, or for repeating one after being told.

Serious cases skip the ladder. Where the law requires it, we will also report the matter to the relevant authorities.

Appeals

If you think we got it wrong, email support@builds.center from the address on the account. Say what was removed and why you think the decision was mistaken. A person will look at it again, and we will tell you the outcome either way.

Changes

These guidelines will change as the community grows and as we meet situations we did not anticipate. Material changes are announced in the app.
