This page lists every cookie builds.center sets. The list is short, and it is complete rather than representative.

Why there is no cookie banner

We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no tag manager on this site, and our web fonts are served from our own servers rather than a font CDN. Every cookie below is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for, and cookies of that kind do not require consent under the EU ePrivacy rules or the equivalent Indonesian requirements.

If that ever changes, we will ask you first, and this page will say so.

Cookies we set

bc_anon

• Purpose — identifies a browser, not a person, so that we can apply the free viewing limit for signed-out visitors and avoid counting the same visitor twice in a build's view count on the same day.
• Contents — a random identifier, cryptographically signed. It is not derived from anything about you, and it holds no personal data by itself.
• Lifetime — 1 year.
• Flags — HttpOnly (unreadable by JavaScript), SameSite=Lax, and Secure in production.
• Set by — builds.center (first party).

Clerk session cookies

• Purpose — keeps you signed in and protects the sign-in flow. Set and managed by Clerk, our authentication provider, when you sign in.
• Lifetime — for the duration of your session, with a short-lived token refreshed as you browse.
• Set by — Clerk, on our domain.

These are strictly necessary: without them you cannot stay signed in.

Things stored in your browser that are not cookies

Two preferences are kept in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to our servers, and clearing your site data removes them.

• bc_theme — which theme you picked, so the page does not flash the wrong one.
• bc_locale — which language you picked.

Embedded videos

If a creator has embedded a YouTube video in a build, that video is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube does not set its usual tracking cookies unless you actually play the video, at which point Google's own privacy policy and cookie practices apply to that playback. Videos are only present on builds whose creator added one.

Managing cookies

Your browser can block or delete cookies for this site. If you block bc_anon, the free viewing limit for signed-out visitors may behave unpredictably. If you block Clerk's cookies, you will not be able to sign in.
