Copyright Policy

Last updated 3 August 2026

builds.center hosts content uploaded by its users. We respond to credible reports of copyright infringement, and we terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe.

We are based in Indonesia and are not a US service provider, so the Digital Millennium Copyright Act does not apply to us by its own force. We follow a notice-and-takedown process modelled on it anyway, because it is well understood and it is fair to both sides.

Reporting infringement

Send a notice to support@builds.center with "Copyright" in the subject line. To let us act on it, please include all of the following:

  1. Identification of the work you say has been infringed. If several works are covered by one notice, a representative list is fine.
  2. Identification of the material you want removed, with the full URL of each page — we cannot act on "somewhere on your site".
  3. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and — under penalty of perjury — that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

An incomplete notice will slow things down, because we will have to come back to you for the missing parts.

What we do with it

  • We review the notice, usually within 2 business days.
  • If it is valid, we remove or disable access to the material.
  • We notify the user who posted it, pass on a copy of the notice including your name and the substance of your claim, and tell them how to respond. Bear that in mind when writing it.
  • We record the notice against that account for the purposes of our repeat infringer policy.

If your content was removed

If you believe the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter notice to support@builds.center. Include:

  1. Identification of the material and the URL where it appeared before removal.
  2. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  3. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  4. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of Indonesia, and of any other forum in which the complainant may bring proceedings against you, and that you will accept service of process from them.
  5. Your physical or electronic signature.

We will forward the counter notice to the original complainant. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have started legal proceedings, we may restore the material.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that are the subject of repeated valid notices are terminated. As a guide, three upheld notices will end an account, and a single instance of deliberate, large-scale infringement can end it immediately.

False claims

Do not use this process to remove criticism, a competing build, or a photograph you simply do not like. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing exposes you to liability for the costs and damages that result, and we will decline notices that are obviously being used for something other than copyright.

Trade marks

For trade mark complaints — a username, logo or build page that impersonates your brand — email us with "Trade mark" in the subject line, identifying the mark, its registration details if any, and the URLs concerned.

Naming the brands of parts used in a build is ordinary descriptive use and is not, by itself, infringement.
